Spring Clean Up

SPRING CLEAN UP AND

LAST RUN OF THE LIMB CHIPPER

 

This year the week of April 19th through the 23rd is designated Spring Clean-Up Week. This is your opportunity to clean out the basement or garage and set out all the items you wish to discard for Republic Services to pick up on your regular trash day. The drivers of the trucks know that this our clean-up week so they will take the extra items which means that you don’t have to call for the bulky items; you can just put them out. Below please find the guidelines for the Spring Cleanup:

 

Items included in Spring Cleanup:

  • Furniture:   Couches, chairs, dressers, tables, bookshelves, desks, headboards, etc.

  • Mattress sets

  • Large carpets (cut into bundles no longer than 4ft in length and not to exceed 50lbs.  Must be tied with string/twine)

  • Glass portions of doors, windows, etc. NOTE: These must be broken and placed into a small box marked “glass” 

  • All nails/staples or anything sharp that is exposed must be removed to prevent injury to you and the collector

  

 Items NOT included in Spring Cleanup:

  • Construction debris of any kind:  Shingles, drywall, vinyl siding, molding/trim, fencing, kitchen cabinets, etc.

  • Loose trash

  • Concrete

  • Tires

  • Lead/oil-based paint, varnish

  • Batteries

  • Yard waste

  • Fluorescent light bulbs

  • Any other items not listed identified as hazardous waste

  • Electronic Waste –Televisions, computer monitors/accessories, DVD/VCR players, etc.  You must contact customer service at (636) 947-5959 to schedule and prepay for an electronic item to be picked up, or visit stlouisco.com for a list of e-waste drives and licensed electronic recyclers.        OR

  • Remember the City's Annual Electronic Recycle & Shredder Event which will be held on June 19th this year (rain or shine). This year we again have a grant from St. Louis County Dept. of Health that will cover televisions, monitors, crt's, etc.

     
  • As always appliances are included with the Spring cleanup. HOWEVER, you must call and schedule an appointment prior to the collection day by contacting Customer Service at (636) 947-5959 in order for them to be picked up.

  

LIMB CHIPPER’S LAST RUN FOR THE SEASON:

 

On Monday and Tuesday of the following week (April 26th & 27th) the Street Department will run the limb chipper through the City one last time. Please gather all your limbs and branches that are 3” diameter or smaller and set them out at the curb with the fat ends pointed toward the street. Remember not to block the sidewalk or set the limbs in the street. We will pick up all limbs on the east side of the City (Ward 1) on Monday, April 26th, and all the limbs on the west side (Ward 2) on Tuesday, April 27th. Once that work is completed, we will put the limb chipper away until the first week of November.
