FULL TIME MAINTENANCE PERSON WANTED


The City of St. John is seeking to hire a qualified person who can perform essential building maintenance work in two City owned buildings. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Public Works Director and be primarily responsible for ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of City facilities by using proper methods and materials in cleaning floors, unstopping clogged drains, replacing light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and some electrical outlets. 


Must have the ability to perform light construction and use various power and hand tools. Since this person will oversee the activities of various contractors who perform regular maintenance on essential HVAC systems, elevators, and daily cleaning of the municipal building, good people skills are essential. This person will also participate in as a member of a snow removal team, so a good driving record and the ability to operate snow plowing equipment (once properly taught) is necessary.


The position is full time, Monday through Friday, with some overtime and weekend hours occasionally required. Starting pay is $37,691 per year ($18.13/hr.). The City offers an outstanding benefits package including health insurance, LAGERS retirement, vacation and sick leave.
