The Patrol Division is the most visible component of the St. John Police Department and serves as the foundation of our daily law enforcement operations. 16 Patrol officers are assigned to 12 hour shifts on uniformed patrol duties and are responsible for responding to calls for service, enforcing state and local laws, and maintaining a strong presence throughout the community.
Duties
Primary responsibilities of the Patrol Division include:
- Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Conducting proactive patrols to deter criminal activity
- Enforcing traffic laws and promoting roadway safety
- Conducting preliminary criminal investigations
- Assisting motorists and providing public safety services
- Participating in community outreach and engagement efforts
The Patrol Division works around the clock to ensure rapid response times and consistent coverage, while maintaining professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with the public.
